I wrote out a nice long post, then i realized something...theres no sense arguing with you.

so lets cut it short.

I am denying your idea, because the idea is based on your fundamental misunderstanding of a fact about this game:

PvP characters are not superior.

You destroyed any arguement or points you have because you based it all on that logical fallacy.

Please go and learn why PvE characters are better. Please. Please.

Series, I bow to your infinite wisdom. You obviously know more about the PvP game than Evil, WM, IQ, and any other top guild. PvE characters must be inferior to PvP's because you said so. They better revert to PvP's now!

Um, that mentality isn't just a player one: its an advertised part of the game. The game is designed to reward skill, not "players who go the extra mile."

Perhaps you should look at the idea of just reducing the cost of outfitting PvE charactars, instead of entirely altering and totaly screwing up the current PvP system.

you're wrong. wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong. and you're playing the wrong game.

Guild Wars has always been advertised as a skill-based game that doesn't reward time spent playing, but skill. it's meant to involve as little grind as possible, and compared to a real MMORPG, it has virtually none. you're looking for that legendary character built up after months of work that you simply wont find in this game. PvP characters exist to allow anyone to jump right in on the action and fun, and they're meant to be (though they're currently not) on the same footing as any PvE character. playing a PvE character gives you a taste of the roleplaying experience many like, mixed with the grindless nature of the game.

your arguments are contrived as hell. citing the cost of runes as proof of grind, for instance, is ridiculous, because as you argue yourself, in five seconds you can create a runed-out PvP character, if that 9 extra health on the superior vigor is so important to you. basically, you're wrong.

Geez, if I wanted a discussion like this I could have posted on GameFAQs or something *eyes roll*

The fact is, I could advertise my urine as a drink that cures cancer, but does that make it true? Heck no! Yes, Guild Wars is pretty skill based, however, it is just plain ignorant to say that you aren't supposed to put time into it. Just about every RPG ever, including Guild Wars, requires time put into it. It is part of the genre.

If you guys are happy believing whatever anybody tells you (that guild wars is 100% skill based and doesn't require time put into it), that's completely fine, making your own educated opinions is "over rated" nowadays anyway. But nothing changes the fact that a skills based game is an FPS, a racing game, an RTS, or something like that. An RPG can have skill, but it also requires time put into the game. Guild Wars, as it is currently, requires time put into it, and REQUIRES you to either go the extra mile or to make a PvP only, and I think that there should be other options, such as more of a reward for going the extra mile or not needing to go the extra mile at all (for example, as someone else pointed out, cheap runes of superior vigor so you don't have to grind all day). No matter how many times you guys say "Guild Wars doesn't require you to go the extra mile", it does if you plan on playing PvP as a PvE only, which I think is a completely broken idea and should either come with more of a reward or not be in place at all.

Anyway, let's just let this thread die. No opinions are black and white, and therefore it is a waste of time arguing as no message board post is going to change what somebody thinks. Fact is, PvP and PvE characters both have advantages over each other, whichever one has more of an advantage is simply opinion and therefore it is not right or wrong.

Um, I agree with most you say - but how exactly is this an advantage? i'd say if you're running with less than 16/14 swordsmanship in the first place you're already at a severe unbelievably large disadvantage

I read about half or so of the replies and my verdict is that initially the PVP only character does have a distinct advantage over a NEW PVE lvl 20 character. However, PVE characters have the advantage in the long term after hard work and grinding. There are many different items and skills available to PVE only characters. You just have to bust your arse to get them.

Sure it's nice to have access to a bunch of nifty powers for premade PVP characters, but put them up against an experienced PVE player, and 9 times out of 10 the PVE person will win.

Don't forget that if you aren't in a guild as the PVP only char then it will take A LOT of time to get the faction points for better powers and items because If I recall the only way to get faction points in PVP is to kill and win. PVE, you just complete quests, missions, and farm. It takes NOWHERE near as long to get the nifty powers and such with PVE chars.


I am a WoW player by nature, so I'm used to busting my butt to get the best stuff to win PVP battles. It just takes a lot of time is all.


I think someone mentioned they worked really hard to get their skills and stuff from prophecies and then lost those in factions. Factions is a completely different game. Yes, the two worlds are intertwined lorewise, but they are still 2 completely different games.
